Lazarus never holds your keys. Your wallet is yours; the contract only reads what's already public. The invariants below are enforced by code on Base. Not trust, not policy, not promises.

FIVE LAWS WRITTEN IN CODE
Normal transactions are never touched. Time alone cannot trigger a release. The person who verifies cannot receive. Two watchers can veto any petition. Death-triggered fees are capped at $2,500 flat.

Your keys stay in your wallet
Lazarus never takes custody at signup. It monitors on-chain activity. Public data anyone can read. No deposit, no approval that can move funds on its own.

Role isolation is contract-level
A Confirmer who votes on a petition is programmatically excluded from receiving funds from that petition. The chain enforces this. Not Lazarus policy.

If we disappear, the contract stays
Immutable core logic runs on Base. A non-profit foundation mirrors the indexer and notifications. Your protection doesn't depend on our company existing.

Does Lazarus ever control my wallet?
No. Your private keys stay in your wallet. MetaMask, Phantom, Ledger, whatever you already use. Lazarus monitors on-chain activity, which is public data anyone can read. There is no approval or signature that lets Lazarus move your funds on its own.
What if I just forget to log in for a month?
Not an issue. The heartbeat is any on-chain activity. Not app check-ins. A single outgoing transaction is a full heartbeat. HODLers set a longer baseline (30 / 60 / 90 days) at setup. Going offline on purpose? Schedule a Silence Window; no escalation during it.
What stops a Custodian from filing a false petition?
Three things at once. Confirmers vote blind through commit–reveal, and any voter is automatically excluded from receiving funds from that petition. There's a 72-hour challenge window after reveal. And any two Watchers can veto the petition outright.
Does this require KYC?
Monitoring is permissionless. No KYC to set up, no identity check, no onboarding gatekeeper. A release event that moves serious sums through a licensed custodian partner may involve whatever that partner's jurisdiction requires. You'll know before it fires.
What happens if Lazarus (the company) disappears?
The contract keeps running. Core logic is immutable and self-executing on Base. A non-profit foundation mirrors the indexer and notification infrastructure. Your protection does not depend on Lazarus-the-company continuing to exist.
What chains are supported?
Base mainnet and Base Sepolia testnet at launch. Ethereum mainnet follows. Multi-chain (Solana, Arbitrum, Polygon) is the Phase 3 roadmap. WalletConnect handles signing, so Ledger, Trezor and other hardware wallets work natively.
How do I cancel or change my mind?
One signed transaction. Tap Resurrect in the app. It calls cancelPetition on anything pending, restores your Protection Score, and re-arms the heartbeat. Reversible by design, every step of the way.
Is the contract audited?
Audit in progress. The contract is public, the test suite passes, and it's already live on Base Sepolia for public inspection. Mainnet launches only after audit completion. Never before.
